Emus are fun, goofy, and incredibly curious birds. They are the second-largest bird species in the world, originating from Australia. When standing tall with their necks outstretched, emus measure around 6 feet high. Males average 120 pounds, while females are slightly larger at about 130 pounds.

Hatching Season
Our emu hatching season typically runs January through May. Placing your deposit early in the season helps secure your preferred gender and color before supplies run out.

Important – No Shipping
We do not ship emu chicks. All chicks must be picked up at our farm near Lebanon, Oregon, or we can sometimes provide ground transportation for an additional fee (flat $75 + $1 per mile one way). Ground transportation is offered at our discretion—we reserve the right to decline delivery requests.

Social Companions & Mob Balance
Emu chicks are very social and do best with a companion. If you are just starting out, please plan on purchasing at least two chicks so they have a friend to grow up with. When building your adult flock, it’s important to keep equal numbers of males and females—or more males than females. Female emus can become aggressive and may fight violently if there are too few males in the group. If you are solely looking for pets, I highly suggest just getting males as they tend to be friendlier and less temperamental.

How the Deposit Works

• Deposit: $50 per chick – applied toward your final balance.

• Total Price: $350 for a standard chick | $450 for a blonde chick.

• Order Fulfillment: Chicks are reserved in the order deposits are received. Deposits guarantee your place in line for fulfillment as chicks become available.

Choosing Gender & Color
We incubate our emu eggs and have each chick’s blood DNA tested for proof of gender. You’ll receive an official certificate with your emu. If your chosen gender/color combination isn’t available in the current hatch year, you can either:

• Transfer your deposit to the following year’s hatch, or

• Receive a full refund.

DNA Disclaimer
We sell chicks based on the DNA results provided to us by IQ Bird Testing. We are not responsible if your chick’s actual gender differs from the results given.

Pick-Up & Delivery
Plan your pick-up in advance to ensure your chick’s safe and timely arrival to its new home. If requesting delivery, please contact us before placing your deposit to confirm availability.

Raising emus is a long-term commitment—these fascinating birds can live 20+ years and require plenty of secure outdoor space to roam. Please ensure you have the facilities, fencing, and time needed before placing your deposit.
